Mission
The Hartford Community Restorative Justice Center’s mission is to reduce crime and rebuild community in the greater Hartford area. HCRJC works in partnership with area residents and law enforcement to provide programs based on the principles of restorative justice:
- Justice requires that we work to restore those who have been injured.
- Those most directly involved and affected by crime should have the opportunity to participate fully in the response if they wish.
- Government’s role is to preserve a just public order, and the community’s role is to build and maintain a just peace.
Methods
HCRJC is guided by the belief that people can change. Utilizing the principles of restorative justice, we guide programs for victims, offenders, and other affected individuals in order to repair the community and empower individuals to be contributing members of the Upper Valley.
